Slack assed bloody student!

Forget about Retial though, NEVER GO BACK!
Its simply not worth the stress and low pay rates.

Instead get your HT license (no idea what they call it in Aus) and come join me and Mr T driving trucks. A friday/sat job on a bread or milk run should net you $2-300 a weel depending on hours and how hard you want to work, and over the summer its easy to earn at least $100 a day just relief driving.

Either that or go find work in your prefered field.

I gave myself the title “Senior Guy in a Cube” but the company gave me a card with senior software engineer on it. So I guess that’s what I do. I seniorize software.

I am an administrative assistant at a law firm. For my first 9.5 years here I was on the road alot, using my car, picking up delivering anything and everything related to client cases (accident reports, insurance checks, medical records, etc etc etc) and also made runs out to our satellite offices. That put 35-40000 miles a year on my cars, however I got paid mileage and I didn't ahve to claim it on my taxes :D A year and a half ago, the big boss decided to take me off the road. So now I do alot of work under his assistant, mostly filing misc papers or data entry. I am also managing our offsite files records. Nothing glamorous, but the bosses are great, and I get along with all my other coworkers, and we have decent benefits. I also do freelance graphic design work on the side, although I haven't taken on any new projects in awhile since I've been busy with wedding planning and all the settling in that comes with marriage :D

Oh, now I only put 8k-10000 miles on the car a year now :D

I was working heaps of shifts in what was initially supposed to be 2-3 days a week (8-15 hours). Like 5-6 days a week 30+ hours. They just hired a bunch of juniors and arseholed me with 0 days notice. Just came up to me at the end of my shift yesterday and said 'bring your uniform back for your deposit' after the 'there's no easy way to say this' talk. :( And I'm trying to study for exams in one and three days time. Really hating life at the moment. :(

I work at a Shaws supermarket!  :disappoin :(

I'll have my Associates this spring, then... more school maybe? I don't know. It's all really depressing if you aren't sure what you want to do. It's an interesting little situation I've come across in my researching future possibilities: There are SO MANY books written on dealing with the teen years, midlife crisis, retirement, etc. But there is a surprising void in the material about what is probably the TOUGHEST time in a person's life- the Twenties. At 22, I (like many here, I'm sure) am staring down the deep, dark well of what to make of the next 50 years of my "professional" life. I have neither the simplicity and protection of the grade school years, nor the wisdom and experience of the older years to aid me. I know, somehow, things usually tend to "pan out" in some way, but I'm still nervous nonetheless. And what does "panning out" mean for me? Of course I want to marry, and have children and whatnot, but I also want to have the ability to pursue my dreams.

The goal is not to have one, and "make due" with the other, the goal is to have both. I'm not above thinking compromises (might) have to be made, but to what degree :uhoh:

i go to a small college in california where there are tons of rich kids. last year my roomate and i started a company where we pick up their laundry and we take it to a place that washes and folds it and we bring it back. These idiot students are charged 15 bucks a bag - you could do yourself on campus for 2.50. horray for rich kids; they are funding my extracurricular activities, my frisbee team and my vehicle!
