TPI or Carb

I have an 86 Iroc with 305 TPI. I have started the engine removal prossess and now I am thinking that I might be better off with a carb setup for the following reasons: Cheaper (aftermarket part wise), easeir to work on, wider cam and intake options, more power without supercharging ect....
So if I do this, what is needed to complete this swap with minimal modifications. Or should I just keep the TPI?!?!
any help would be apreciated.

someone once told me that going from TPI to a carb is comparetively simple and that for the most part all you need is an intake manifold that fits and a carb, you just take out the computer and can leave the sensors in to keep from having to plug any holes... although im sure there's more to it than that. i would imagine that you would have to do some fairly hefty modification to do it right.
however my friend told me once that he installed a carb on a TBI 305 camaro and all he did was take the wires from the injuectors and soldered them together so that they completed the circuit. essentially he fooled the computer into thinking that the injector were working and were spraying fuel.
