Would HICAS still work with a 2jz? I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure it's an electronic system like ABS...so would it work with other engines includng the 2jz?

its a part of the suspention, it works on sensors on the steering column, so unless that has to be modified, swapping another engine in there shouldny affect it, I'm sure.

You Would Have To Graph The Hicas Steering Pump Onto The 2jz Though. Yes The Hicas System Is Electronic But It Is Still Pressurized Fluid Powered. It Has Steering Shaft Angle Sensors That Tells The Rear Wheels When And Which Direction To Turn But In Order To Do So It Uses The Steering Pump With A Seconadry Outlet To Power The Motion Of The Rear END.

yes, you would need to use the KA or SR HICAS PS pumps.

i'm not positive, but i think HICAS is controlled from the ECU. and a 2jz engine swap would probably use the 2jz ecu. there's a problem.

All the racers here in Japan pull out all the HICAS stuff. It's needless weight and detracts from the handling. It's nice on my Silvia though because it helps reduce the turning radius and in Japan you need to make some tight turns! Parking is an artform here.

its a good system, IMO, but its not worth the extra weight
