95 Stalling

My 95 Bonneville stalls randomly on deceleration. It sometimes starts in a few hours or can take as long as two days. The symptoms match the Dec. 94 recall but nothing comes up with my VIN so no one seems to have answers.

So are you saying that your car will stall and not restart for a few hours or days?
Or that the problem only occurs within a few hours of driving or may take a couple days of driving before it will stall?

The car stalls and sometimes starts again in two hours. Sometimes doesn't start for two days. Always starts after tow truck drops it off.

It may start in two hours or it sometimes won't start back up for two days. It always starts when the tow truck drops it off.

O.K. that actually makes things easier...now we have to find out what you are missing...fuel or spark.
You can check for spark the next time the engine won't start by removing the plug wire at the coil....spin the engine over and see if you hear a snap, snap ,snap of a spark jumping...if you don't then you have an ignition related problem..if you do..then you most likely have a fuel problem...
what part of the country are you in?

I live in Phoenix Az.
I have replaced the Ignition control modual and the ignition switch.All part of the $600 plus.

I've got a new Fuel Pump Relay but can't tell which of the two, five prong relays it goes to.

If you look on the under dash kick panel there is a decal with fuse and relay placement.
If I remember correctly it should be in the right underdash fuse and relay center.

Brenda, I have a 1995 Bonneville SSE. After you locate your relay panel (passenger side kick panel), you will notice 2 rows of relays, row 1 is closest to the front of the car, row 2 closest to you. The rows are vertical. Count 6 relays up on row 2, then look (or feel) immediately to row 1, that is your Fuel Pump Relay. It gets kinda confusing, especially with the occasional blank spaces.

I have had the same exact problem - what you want to do is in order to get it running right - you have to play listen to the engine while it is in neutral - what you want to do is rev the engine to force fuel through the injectors into the engine itself - you may hear as your pressing the pedal sort of a gasping sound - that is the air being brought in from the throttle body - the key is to get the engine to the precise air/fuel ratio - which will occur once enough air and fuel have gotten into the engine allowing it to run normally - (how to achieve this is you want to create a quick yet constant rev (pushes gas) when you press on the pedal as the air is sucked in when you take it off - kinda like this (air/fuel/air/fuel/air/fuel) you'll hear it when you push and release the accelerator - until after a few minutes there should be no studders or stalls - this is only a temporary solution until the necessary parts are replaced which should be ASAP - most of the time as long as the engine is used frequently you should be okay until it gets cold (because fuel vapors shrink as it freezes in cold just as its vapors expand when it is warm) this is usually done by the fuel accumulator - which may need to be replaced - it keeps the engine pressurized in even the coldest weather to ensure warm (normal) starts - you may also need to get a new fuel pump - this is probably the one of the most probable reasons for the engine to be acting this way - especially if it is an electric fuel pump (more than likely) what is happening is you're getting too much air and not enough gas (the cause for a bad fuel pump) I had this same exact problem - replaced the cold start, the fuel pump relay - it all helped but I kept having the same problem - this is a very common problem that can happen to any car - hopefully you find this information helpful!

Check out the post and threads for "Fuel Pump or Filter, and electrical problem?" The crank sensor has seemed for now( two weeks) to have done the trick, with the stalling and not starting for a few hours or sometimes a few days.

your spark plugs r screwed up, replace them. There is probobly too much of agap in the spark plug. BUt before u do that try to put a bottle of fuel system clean up. IT might help

I was having the same problem with my 95 Bonneville. After reading the posts, I bought and installed a new Fuel Pump relay and the car hasn't missed a beat since. Thanks for the info.
