New AMP installation

k I'm trying to learn all this so every bit of help is needed...MY dad has a jeep wrangler and has two 10s powered by an amp with an alpine HU. He replaced all the stock stereo with some infinty 4x6 and then the soundbar with alpine 6.5"...but since he put in new speakers his HU isn't pushing them well enough and the HU is dimming when he gets to high levels in volume. SO he bought another amp (400.4) so each speaker will get a max of 100 watts. my question is on the amp there are two ways to input the audio signal...it has rca and then the standard wire terminals. Although it says the RCA are low level and the other is high level. but the RCA would be MUCH easier to install...would it be ok to use the RCAs for the highs?

Also how can I plug something to the amp to make sure I don't put too much power to each speaker?

Yeah, use the RCA's, those will be fine, just make sure that you get a nice set of cables so you get the ebst possible sound. Also, you dont need anything to plug into the amp, just watch your gain settings, if the speaker sounds like it is running unhealthy, just lower the gains.

also how do I lower my gains? there aren't any output gain controls on the amp so I need to do it through my HU I guess?

There should be gain adjusters on the amp...Most of the time you cant adjust the gains with the HU...just the sound curve, which wont mess with the gains...I suggest checking the user manual to the amp.

Oh and about the cables...it doesnt matter what brand you get, just get the right gauge.

yeah you will usually always want to use RCA cables, the other one is more or less for if you don't have RCA outputs on you HU. and the gain control is usually some little knobs on the amp, or small plastic screw things that you can turn with a fine flathead screwdriver, you will need to adjust them to tune your system so it is as powerful as possible without distorting.
