Engine/transmission Knock "clunk"

I have a 2000 prelude which I just bought about 2 weeks ago. I live in upstate NY and it has just started getting pretty cold around here and it gets below freezing at night. 2 days ago I started my car on one of these cold mornings and when I went to take off in 1st gear it sounded like when the engine rocked it made a clunking noise. It was as if there was a bad motor/transmission mount. It would also make that noise if I punched the accelerator in second as well. It never did this when it was warm out and went away after the car warmed up. This morning was also pretty cold and it did it once again. Has anyone had this happen to them or what the cause might be? Please let me know!

A similar thing happened to me. Turned out two of my mounts were loose. We just tightened them and it hasn't happened since.

Hey thanks for the info! Yours made the same type of noise when it was cold out or just when you started the car in the morning? Either or I will def get them checked out to make sure they get tightened. I also heard of motor mount inserts to tighten up the motor a little bit. They seem to only have them for civics, integras, and accords though. Thanks alot for the insight man!
