Ive had it with all the Anti-fraternity crap ive heard in college... Just bc someone meats one asshole doesnt means everyone is the same goddamn way. Every group has good and bad people in it... so you met an asshole who is in a fraternity dont hold that same standard to anyone you meet that in a fraternity. and on my final part im tired of people saying that i "bought" my friends.. thats the biggest load of bullshit ive EVER heard.....err .. my new last note.. I hate MTV for their "fraternity and soroity life" shows which in no way portray a typical fraternity or sorority. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Your anger is understandable. However, dont let people who are too shallow to take a closer look get to you. All that matters is what you know, you dont have anything you have to prove to them, and they are the ignorant ones for being so close-minded.

I see the same at Penn State, I had nothing against frat's until I lived across the road from one for some time, all I saw was drinking and partying and other unruly behaviour. It really left me with a negative outlook on fraternities.

There is a difference in the behavior of fraternities between campuses as well. At MTU the fraternities were a lot more sedate then what I saw down in CMU. Had they been the same up north, I would never have joined.

Ummmm, if you in college, what's wrong with constant drinking and partying? That's what it's all about. In my apartment, all my roommates are in a frat. All the dudes in their house are chill...always make me feel welcome when i head to the house. BTW, i'm a bruin.

in my freshman year of college I pledged TKE (the largest fraternity in the nation :) ). Yeah, there was a lot of drinking and partying but it was all in the name of brotherhood. I remember whne I firest went to college I lived above KDR and PhiSig and we (my roommates and I) would always make dumb comments about how stupid it is to join a fraternity but once I had the opportunuty to be a brother I realized why it was so important. It is too bad all of these fraternities have gotten bad raps from only a select few dumbasses. but I guess that is the way life goes. It only takes one person to fuck it up for the rest of us.

One of my best friends was in the TeeK (TKE) frat, too, and whenever i went over there, sure there was drinking going on, but it was a "wet" house, and what the fuck else are you gonna do between classes and such? The Frats on my campuses are communities in themselves that are supportive and give back to the outside environment. Almost every frat on campus had a fund raiser or charity organized at least once every other month. The sterotype of the Fraternity as a beer guzzling consort that fancies in debuachery and gang rapes is pathetic and over rated. Frats are more than just toga parties every weekend.

fraternities are basically daycares. review the history on this, and you will see what i mean. nothing else to say.

Fraternities are a very America thing. The rest of the world seems to function perfectly adequately without them.As yet I hav not found any compelling or logical reason for their neccesity.

I see no reason to pay people to hang out with them and tell me I like this person because he paid as well.

People that think Frats are just a bunch of kids who didnt have friends in high school, and just drink all the time and cant keep up good grades are full of SHIT, I'm in Phi Kappa Tau, and we have to maintain a 2.8 in order to even be considerd a brother

Waa waa waa. Frats are just that... frats. NOT fraternities. I can't find the good in them. Sure, some do community service... but only because they HAVE to. I've been in college 4 years now, and I have VERY rarely seen any good come out of a frat. Hell, I wanted to join an honors frat (coed) this term until I discovered it's $150 for a SEMESTER, AND if the fundraisers don't reach the quota, then it comes out of member's pockets. Well, screw that, folks. I don't need that kind of high school, overachieving garbage in my life. Not out to offend, but that's what I have found in 4 years.

If you're in college for that, you're in for the wrong reasons, idiot. I'll be spending my college time getting a good job while you piss your every existence away. :loser:

Uneccesary flaming, there pick. Some of the most talented people never complete college, because they realise that it's not the be all and end all.
Companies that look for solid grades and the 'right' extras on a resume are generally the dull and stodgy underperformers that are top-heavy with layers of uptight middle management. The really successful interviewers are those who focus on talent rather than shiny shoes and membership of the 'right' clubs.College grades may reflect the ability to retain information, but a paper qualification is worthless unless you have the skills to put that information into innovative use.

Without fraternities cheap beer breweries, hair texture cream distributors, baseball hat manufacturers and date rape drug companies would go out of business. Thats the last thing our economy needs right now...so RUSH BITCHES!
