Ok.. Im not too sure whats goin on with my car.
Ive got a b16a w/ a ported head w/ springs & valves
But I was driving around, and I was playing aroud, reving it up a bit.
anyways. My friend was driving behind me. So i drove off reving my car up to 9000rpms (nothing out of the ordinary takes 9000 realy smooth)
anyways at the next light my friend pulls up next to me and says when i did that my exhaust turned black, he said it might have a bluish tint too, but he didnt remember. Also I looked at my exhaust pipe and it was pretty suity, and there was a little bit of suit on my bumper. ( i dunno if that means anything)
Anywho,
Im not sure what could be the problem. the car runs fine. It holds the oil well. the oil is clean nice golden color like castrol gtx 5w30 should be. But i dont know why im buring oil. could i have a bad valve seal or something?
Im no mechanic so i dont know what would be causing it. And my oil level stays prettymuch the same all the time till around 2000 miles ,I have to add just a tad. but it never goes below the normal range if i leave it without adding.

anyways Any suggestions?

I have a type r that i just got alot of head work done and my car shot out james bond style smoke screen. i got it dyno tuned with an apexi vafc and now it runs fine. everytime you do something to your car you have to re tune it. chances are your just running very rich like i was.

yeah that makes sence, chances are it does need to be tuned, but would that accound for some of the blue?

when the headwork was done did it get new valve seals? if not you are probably leaking some oil through there under hard acceleration. basically, the engine is drawing so much air that it actually sucks a little bit of oil past the valve seals, its not the end of the world, but slightly annoying

mine does it too but mine is pretty much all stock and tired (168,000 miles)

How long ago did u get this work done. When u changed the valves did u replace the guides? The exhaust guides r known for going bad in hondas/acuras. I agree that the valve seats may need refaced as well.

Did u consider the lower end? It could have bad piston rings also which would contribute to some oil loss and or smoke.

Put it on a dyno before u jump to any conclusions though.

I got the work done nearly a year ago.
The shop that did my porting job http://pyrracing.com thinks its probably my piston rings... anyways i gotta do some compresison tests before it gets taken apart I'll try to respond with what the problem is/was

yeah, its good to have it running rich until you get it dyno tuned. thats what we do when we put F/I into a car

My budy has a 98 Stock SI and it does the same thing when he revs the &#% of it...

He took it in to Honda and they said that they smoke a little when revved and that it is normal....

Go figure.

i would agree hondas somtime tend to have a tiny bit of smoke when you rev the sh%& out of them
