Intalling Steelhorse console in 2003

Hey all,

I just hit a snag on my first fit test of the Steelhorse. I have the 1" L aluminum rails intalled on the bottom of the console. Slipped it in between the seats and... damn is that tight!!!! But it fit.

That is until I tried to open the console lid. I have the lumbar support on the driver seat and guess what is in the way of raising the lid?? :banghead: You got it. I took me three days of ownership before I noticed that lever was even there and realized what it did. I thought the lumbar support would be down rails like the other controls.

Since this lever is so critical to my enjoyment of the new console (it is freakin awesome!!) , just wondering if anyone has reomved theirs and if so how?? Does it just pop off cleanly like the dash console??

I'm one of the least mechanically inclined people in the world but thanks to these two and everyone elses great info here and XOC, I've managed to put in this console and swap out the head unit on the stereo with great results so far!!

I've been dying to install a new console in my 2003 but was worried about it fitting in. I have an automatic and the storage space provided is very limited, as you probably know.

Which model console did you get? Do you have pics?
