Just watched Top Gear video of the CSL. This car is amazing! Love the whole phylosophy of less is more and the use of lightweight materials in its construction. That engine sounds awesome! It's almost perfect. The only thing I would change is the deletion of the SMG transmission. Gotta have manual...

The only cars I think would compete with this are the Challenge Stradale and the 996 GT3. Not sure which of the three I'd choose. I'd have all three if I could :dream:

Oh well :icon16:

Oh I agree on the awsomeness of the csl, but common...between those three, I'd definately pick the challenge stradale.

I'll take the GT3 for a bit of sideways action... or should i say a lot of sideways action :evillol:

They're all very good at sideways action, that's one of the reasons I like them so much:naughty:

Ooops...

Apparently the GT3 is the most chuckable, if you know what i mean, very playful and adjustable at the limit. That, for me, is motoring heaven :D

Most of the mags that have done either M3/CSL side by side or just compared the CSL to the M3 have not found it worth the price of admission. The performance gains seem mainly in the R spec Michelins. Based on the numbers the magazines are reporting you should be able to surpass CSL numbers with a regular M3 and 15,000 buck fairly easily, that with A/C and radio, no cardboard trunk for a total of ~65k when the CSL is more like 90k plus no federal version. Its just a homagomation effort anyway, no real attempt to fully perfect it. Car mag (UK) in the PCOTY test found the Stradale and GT3 significantly better, though only the GT3 is really near the price point. So many people on the M3 forums pine for a chance to own one, in the end IF there was a federal version few would actually consider it when it really is just a track car and for the same money you could get a "regular" M3 AND a Lotus Elise (the ultimate less is more car)which would kill the CSL on any track except ones with HUGE straightaways. Nice car to "dream" about but even if it came to the US few would actually ante up, though it would be so limited that it would indeed sell out.

Hey all of the CSLs are sold, so no getting one anymore. Anyways price is not a factor at this point in the car industry. (This can be seen since all enzos, carrera gts and merc mclaren which are sold out). People who love M3s will love the CSLs even more. in a comparo i read inbetween the CSL and 911 teh 911 only one because it is more drivable every day. Anyways the CSL is awsome. One of the only cars that has pieces made of carbon fiber. One last thing you can get a free radio and aircon when you buy a CSL.

The 911 also has more feel. Quite an important thing in a performance car, dont you think?

Well seeing as im only 16 and live in holland. i dont drive except for on my ps2. But from my experience racing gocarts and learning to drive. I'd have to say that feel would be an important thing in a sports car. If not how it should be.

There are several available if you do a search on the M3 CSL. I'll post one link, but is is not for the best one. I believe that this link will get you the CSL at Nurburgring. The best one is the Top Gear video on the Isle of Mann. That is quite large at about 212MB, but worth every meg. :smokin: After you get through watching this one do a search on Google for M3 CSL Top Gear video. You should be able to find it.

Have shied away from posting on any forum in the past. I signed up originally just to see the photos, but thought I would get involved. I enjoy M3’s ,CSL’s and Mclaren F1’s.If I can make a contribution I will. I’ll continue to be around, but probably not very vocal. :sunglasse

Cool. But do have a look at other forums. The Car comparisons forum often has comparos involving the m3 etc... so you might be interested in reading / contributing...

cheers
