Water pump struggle - I still have my knuckles

I am very close to giving up on changing a water pump for my 1989 honda accord.
I have a bolt stuck which holds the bracket (which holds the alternator that's in the way) and I've broken a socket and a wrench trying to get the bolt off. (I actually broke three tools but thowing one on the gound in anger doesn't count)
Am I a fool for trying this repair on my own? I am having a devil of a time finding all the bolts to take the cover off the timing belt (also in the way.)
Is there anyone who has successfully done this repair that I can get some advice from?

Have you tried soaking the stuck bolt with penatrating oil, let sit for a while.
Changing the water pump is a bit of pain in the ass. I highly recommend replacing the timing belt, b.shaft belt, & assy. drive belts while its all apart! The best advice I can give is: www.helminc.com here are some links that way help(it is for a '91)

Thanks.
I have tried the penetrating stuff without success. I decided that a REALLY good idea was to take a break from it and hit the movies with one of my kids. It didn't help the car at all but it certainly helped my demeanor.
I'll give it another shot on the holiday. I appreciate your response.
