I think it's better if we just make notes and then you can edit the original as you see fit.
Lawrence Stroll's (note my previous incorrect spelling) F1 is not a former Petrik car. #045 was sold by Newport Autosport and then Motorcars Intl, it's current location/owner is unknown.
How certain are you that #002 is Murray Walker's?? I've never heard his name associated with F1 ownership. I'd love to hear more. Car has HDF Kit now btw.
Here's what I have to add:
#012 - possibly Seth Neimann's - still working to confirm
#014 - Benny Caiola - New York
#024 - Jim Clark - California - former Netscape CEO
#044 - Herb Chambers - Massachusetts
#051 - Tom Meissner's green F1 - now for sale at that one showroom
#072 - Gonzales family - Texas - later sold through Motorcars Intl - location/owner unknown
I guess you don't care about the GTRs? No big deal - we don't know the history on very many of them once they stopped racing.

Murray Walker rated it as the "best car ever" on Topgear last season. I think the range rover was the eventual winner but Walker drove and argued the Mclaren as the best ever.

Murray Walker does not own an F1. I seen the film he made campaigned for the F1 to be voted the greatest car ever on top gear, and he certainly didn't look like an owner. I recognise the guy that did the track driving in the film, but can't put a name to the face (i think he's a racing driver).
I'm pretty sure XP2 was rebuilt, read the Fate of XPs thread for more info.

Tiff Needel really really wishes he had enough money to afford a McLaren F1. Unlike that bafoon Jeremy Clarkson, Tiff truly appreciates the cars for what they are and would love to have one.
BTW: Maarten - this is an excellent list so far once you clean it up. Nearly half the road cars are accounted for.

Very true - even I had forgotten about that one.
Funny thing I just noticed while looking at the build list, is that it must have been Harrison's fault his car was built out of succession while he made them look around for the perfect Aubergine. His car being #016 was the 19th built. Up until that point all the cars had been completed in order except the first one which was finished 3rd.

Just to clear a couple of things up:
1. The guy driving Murray Walker around the circuit in 011 is Duncan Hill. This is discussed in another thread.
2. Gordon Murray owns XP3.
3. Jeremy Clarkson doesn't like the F1 because GM called him a wanker. In my opinion spot on...

Well someone else told me recently that XP3 was most certainly not the F1 that the BMW Pres wrecked. He told me the same thing - that XP3 had been given to Gordon Murray. This person also thinks that XP2 might still be around as McLaren Cars held on to it after the MIRA crash test to use if they proceeded with any US certification process. He didn't know the current whereabouts of XP2 though.

Not mad at all that you were right - but you're saying "I told you so" like you had some reasoning behind your earlier assumption. The only reason I doubted you before was because you were simply speculating and I had previously read that XP3 was the car that was destroyed, so I was basing my comments on that information. If you had any proof earlier that you were right and I was just sitting there calling you a liar or telling you that you were wrong in the face of it, then sure, go ahead and give me a hard time about it.
It's fine with me that you ended up being right - but it's not like you're some genius. It was just a guess that ended up being correct. Good for you. :loser: oops, I meant  hehe

its not as much of a guess as you might think. the reasoning of my assumption was that there was no proof of XP3 going to the BMW boss. XP3, like the other McLaren prototypes, is one of those chassis that wouldnt go anywhere without someone knowing about who, when, and where it is going to/came from (ie: XP4, XPLM, 56XPGT).
...since there was never any news of it going anywhere, i assumed that XP3 was safe and sound.

No, I remember it being either 011 or 013 but I am sure someone here will be able to eliminate one of these.

Don't forget that #011 started life as a Carbon colored road car, so it might appear to look a lot like #002. When was the article with Walker written? Because #011 didn't receive a refit to the blue exterior until 1998.

I am being e-mailed by someone who claims to be Gordon's son - his name is Dylan Murray. He has told me "XP3 is alive and well"

Sounds like him. Ask if GM ever made it to Guildford cruise of a Sunday night.

As far as I know it is staying there until the museum opens at the new McLaren site. This doesn't look like its gonna happen for at least a year so you should be alright.
Prior to the move it had a full refurb so is looking better than it ever has. Enjoy the trip!

to start with, i know the current owner of #072. he's german, his name is 'Dahms' and he lives in Mullheim. I might be able to post a pic and more info later, you'll hear that.
I also know that a guy called Voight in Germany owns a Davidoff 97 GTR. I'm working on the chassis number.

I know someone who has seen a black one around the Dallas Fort Worth area. He said it doesn't have a spoiler or anything and looks stock.

do you have a date? it can be #007 and if it was a very very long time ago it could also be #072 which is black as well.. if it has a red doorstripe there's #015 and wyclef's car looks very black too. lot's of possabilities
McLaren F1 Guy

It could possibly have been #22, Wyclef's. He said "i think it belongs to jay-z, or somebody like that" "he was on I 35 coming from trophy club (of course). it was black (i know we have established this), looked completley stock. he got off the freeway and i followed. i tailed him for about 10 minutes or so, we were stopped at a stoplight when i think he probably realized what i was doing. he did a nice burnout and took off...no way i coulda caught him in my tour...i didnt even try... but its ok cause i got to see the sweetest burnout ever. god...the tires on a mclaren, when they burn i would swear it smells like potpurri"
BTW, he mentioned the driver was coming from trophy club which is a very small town near D.F.W. It just so happens I have relatives that live there, but I last visited them when I was like 9 and didn't know squat about cars :banghead:
