I was driving along the other day with my wipers on, and all of a sudden I hear this *BANG*. My wipers kinda jump around, then they continue. They are working fine, except that when I shut them off, instead of slipping down out of view they go up to the top position. I took the trim peice off and looked, and everything seems to be in place. Anyone else have this problem? What is happening?

Oh yeah, by the way I check the wiper arm on the little stud and they are right.... they never were moved anyway...

Had the same problem about a month ago. It started like you described, but then they didn't work at all and there was a constant humming that drove me nuts until i pulled the fuse on the wiper motor. The fix is simple enough. Just grab a wiper motor at your local boneyard. if you're mechanically inclined, or just have extra time you can just replace the part you need. Your motor is actually fine. when you pull it off you will have a motor, a plastic encased gear, and a strange diamond shaped metal thingy. anyway, beneath this diamond shaped metal thingy is a black plastic square that slides back and forth while the motor is spinning. unfortunately it is made of plastic so it eventually gets carved away, and isn't shaped the way it's supposed to anymore. If you replace this black plastic culprit, you should be all right. try putting it on at the boneyard, so you don't have to get home and find out you should have just replaced the whole assembly.
