Keyless Entry

I recently bought a 1996 Jeep GC and the used car dealer only had the keys, but no keyless remotes. I called the local Jeep dealership which was of little help in letting me know how/where to get replacement remotes. All they had to say was "bring it and and let us take a look at it". That responce alone made me believe they didn't even listen to what I was asking and with the reputation this Jeep dealership has I'm sure I'm not wrong.
I guess in my round about way I'm asking if anyone here knows how or where I can get remotes and how would I program them ect. I'm sure that it isn't going to be a simple cut and dry answer, but any info will be quite useful.
Thanks in advance.
Val.

Go to this link(www.remotesunlimited.com) to pull up what remote looks like. You can then bid on one on ebay.
As for programming, all I have are instructions for 93-95.
Anyone have instructions for 96-98? please post.

Here ya go. If only programming 1 remote, turn key off within 20 seconds after step 5.
1. Put key in ign. Leave in off.
2. Open driver door, leave open throughout.
3. Manually push door lock button to "lock" position, not using electric
door locks, just manually push lock button.
4. Turn ign to "run" position.
5. Within 20 seconds, hold lock button on remote till remote LED flashes
twice and electric door locks cycle on /off.
6. Within 20 seconds, push manual door lock back to "lock" position and
press "lock" button on 2nd remote till it flashes twice and locks cycle
again.
7. Turn ign key to "off" position within 20 seconds.
Try both remotes and see if they work.
Hope this helps,

I bought two remotes on e-bay for my 98 Jeep GC Limited for $12, I just have to go to the dealer to get them programmed. They said they would charge me $19.50 to do this. I have 3 remotes for this jeep, It came with a #2, and I bought a #1 and #2 from e-bay. They will program all three for the $19.50. I checked around alot on my options to program these myself, but I found that the 96-up had to be done by the dealers computer.

I just bought a second remote for my 98 Cherokee, what is the procedure for getting it programmed? Do I need to bring BOTH remotes to a dealer, or can I send ONE remote to a dealer with the VIN number?

Please give me the information of the dealer that quoted you the progremming price of $19.50.

Did anyone use Tdenkler's posted instructions successfully?
I was pretty sure this was a dealer programming only scenario & I've already had them programmed for free at my local Dodge dealership.
