Ok guys get ready for this...took my new 98 civic to a shop to just tune everything up (didn't have the time right now to do it muself) when I took it the speedometer was working but now...it's not. He is leaving for vacation so I told him I would just come pick it up and take it back when he returns.

What could be the problem?

happened to mine after i put my clutch and flywheel in. all that happened was i must have pulled on the speed sensor cable and popped it out of the back of the speedometer. i had to pull the dash apart and plug it back in.

I haven't looked yet but you cant jsut reach up in there and plug it back in?

OR

How hard is it to take the dash apart?

It could be a loose cable/wire on the speed sensor on the trans.

well the mechanic checked the speed sensor so now it jsut has to be the back of speedo or the sensor has gone out

check the fuse box under the dash for 'back up' fuse, that was what happened to mine
