95 and everything dies

Hey all, I have a '97 Prelude and just recently changed the timing belt/water pump/new cam gears. The very next day i'm driving home and my speedo and tach drop to zero along with the rest of the cluster gauges and everything dies. Started back up and ran fine. About a week later I'm going down the highway at 95 and this happens again. Pull it over and everything starts right back up after turning it over. Another week goes by and the same thing happens! Did i miss something putting the t-belt job back together or is it something like the fuel pump relay or something else electrical? I'm stumped. Any suggestions?

It is something electrical, what is happening is your ecu is loosing power briefly and this is why everything dies including the speedo, If it was a fuel pump relay the speedo would still work as long as the switch is turned on.

Its prob your ecu like stated above. I am almost positive that it has nothing to do with changing the water pump, timing belt, cam gears, (should have changed the belt tensioner too) because you shouldnt have really messed with anything electrical doing to. Check your engine harnesse's for a loose connection.

Hey thanks for the input. I'll check the ecu and the harnesses. I figured it was something electrical but didn't know where to start. (btw I did change the belt tensioner as well but thanks for the extra words of advice) I'll get back to y'all after checking things out and let you know how it went.

My crx did the same thing back awhile ago. I'd just be cruising along and it would die out, but I could still pop start it while cruising at speed. It turned out to be my coil gone bad. It eventually led to me be stranded in a Redners parking lot and having to call a few buddies to push me home.

Hope that helped some.
