Racing pedal problem

I bought racing pedals a few months ago, red and black ones for my 1991 Nissan pickup. Basically and black and red plate goes over top of the existing pedal, and then a few metal plates go behind the back of it, with screws going down into the plates, so the existing pedal is sandwiched between. My problem is that there are screws to hold the plate in going down, and digging into my carpet everytime I push the clutch in. It's also ripping up my rubber floor mat, and feels weird when I push in the clutch. I think I'll just return the pedals... are all pedals like this?

This may or may not work depending on the screws, but if your problem is just the excess screw digging into shit, find someone with one of those "saws" that is mounted on a table with a .. vertical metal disk that spins so fast it cuts down any tip you put to it .. like screws. Hard to describe when I don't know the name of it. But maybe this helps. If not, good luck.

I think UCP is talkin about a table saw, and that's not safe. I've had two friends lose fingers on table saws. I'd use a dremel tool with metal grinding disc to cut the screws down and smooth it out so that it doesn't dig into the carpet as you described. HTH

Yeah I've thought about grinding the screws down... but then if I grind them too much I might not be able to take them off and then put them on again if the screws are too short. These pedals also have a bar thing at the bottom...

That is what the pedal looks like from the side, so that bar thing at the bottom is also what's digging in. These are Wal-mart pedals so I don't even think they're made that well!

I know what you're talking about. My pilot motorsports pedals are the same way (well, the brake pedal at least). I'm going to grind mine down when it come back from the shop, but I don't plan on taking them off, much less putting them back on.

I returned mine... such a relief to drive without them... but racing pedals are so cool. I might get some from a real auto parts store, not Walmart
