My 1994 blazer V-6 decided to quit on the highway last weekend. Just quit no sputtering just a quick shut off. Got it towed home checked it does have spark. So I shot a little carb cleaner down the intake and it ran for a second. OK it has a fuel problem... I can hear the fuel pump running for 5 or so seconds when the key is first turned on so. There is fuel in the tank. I would assume that if the filter was plugged it would not completly plug up quickly enough to stop it dead like happened. Any ideas????
thanks

I would check fuel pressure..just because you can hear the pump run doesnt mean its putting out enough pressure for the engine to run.
It depends on what engine you have as far as the fuel pressure spec goes....9-13 psi on a TBI engine and 54-64 on a CPI engine.
Also check and see if you have injector pulse.

thanks for the reply merlin. how do I check for the injector pulse? Can I test with my 12v test light?

Yes, just disconnect the injector connector and jumper your test light between the harness side of the connector...should flash when you spin the engine over.
