I am curious about the D15B2. I know a few guys around here have them, and would like to know some particulars... Do you know about compatibility on stuff like bearings, rods, pistons, availability of cams, etc. to the USDM motors? I did a search, but didn't see anything that really talked about it, so if you know of a thread, please feel free to just tack up a link... Thanks!

Did you try searching HondaTech? Pretty good source when you can't find your info here, or need more...

the d15b2 has identical bottom end to the d15b1, d15b8, and d15b7. the HF, D15B6, has different pistons.
the VTEC d15's, D15Z1 (VTEC-e) and D15B (JDM SOHC VTEC) have identical rods, and crank, but with different pistons.
I would say all of the d15 non vtec's are the same, and the vtec d15's are the same (bearing wise)

I just found out that it's not the b2 that i'm talking about, but just the D15b straight, the JDM one with 3 stage vtec. So I would need to use the pistons to match up with the d15z? Is there any aftermarket support? Does anyone make a low compression turbo piston for it that you have heard of? Thanks guys!

I dont want to burst your bubble....but the e in VTEC-e stands for economy which makes me doubt the availability of many aftermarket parts. Good luck with your search tho....if I stumble on anything I'll let you know.

no, the d15b is a 3 stage vtec motor that has both the vtec-e and standard vtec built into one motor. It makes 130 hp, which is awesome for a 1.5. On top of that, you get good economy at steady rpm's. I think that it has just started coming over to the US recently. Does anyone know what year cars? I think it's 92-95. (??)

actually, the majority of the d15b SOHC VTEC engines you will find are standard SOHC VTEC. the 3 stage VTEC is of yet, as hard to find as jimmy hoffa.
If you are looking to lower the compression radically, you should get D15Z1 VTEC-e pistons.. they have a HUGE dish, but with the VTEC-e head design, in which there is hardly any combustion chamber, it retains stock compression ratio (actaully .1 higher than the d16z6 even).
D15B with VX pistons would (just guessing) be around 8.5:1 compression.
BTW, the D15B VTEC and the USDM D16Z6 have the exact same head (casting mark p08, which is the code for D15B). so basically, the D15B is a JDM D15Z1 with a Z6 head and Z6 pistons, even though technically they have different pistons since the D15B has long rods like the D15Z1..
