I have a 1997 Chevy Silverado that has been having continual electrical trouble. Recently everything shuts off while driving. (not a good thing!) Has any one else have these problems? Or any other trouble with the electrical stuff, like the Over head cab light not coming on or the mirror functions not working or the high beams intermittingly not coming on?

Clean the battery post.
Check that the ground and positive battery wires are making good contact.
Check the battery feed to the fusebox under the hood.
The problem should be in one of those places.

My future father in law had the same problem on his 97. What you want to check is the cable that goes from the battery across the top of the radiator shroud and into the relay box. There was a break in the cable that caused the same problem. That wire is a 8 guage which I replaced with a 4 gauge to handle the amperage.
