i have a little annoying problem which i cant seem to solve, and im sure somebody somewhere has had a similar problem so any help would be appreciated.
i have just finished an ice install in my boot but if i give it two much bass then the door speakers cut out for only a fraction of a second untill the bass level comes back down. i m not sure where in the system i have a problem so i will describe each section and how they are connected.
the head unit is a sony cdx m700 with front and rear pre amp out sockets. i bought it with a faulty internal amlifier but the pre amp outs work perfectly. i have used a Y connector to split the pre amp outs so that i can use one set for the door speakers and one set for the boot.
one of the sets of pre amp outs go to a nippon audio 4X50w amp which powers the door speakers
the other set go to the boot
in the boot i have two 12" spl dvc subs and a splx mf500 two chanel amp powering each one, i also have a smaller 180w two channel amp powering two 6 x 9's. i have a second battery in the boot with a 1 farad capacitor to help with the power comsumption. and both batterys are linked with a split charge relay.
i dont know if this will help at all but when the door speakers cut out, the nippon audio amp is still on but i can only hear the whining of the capacitor recharging.
well if you have any help then you can leave a message here or mail me on [email protected].
thanks all

How do you have all of the power wired? (distro blocks, wire sizes, etc)
Have you used a multimeter on your + and - terminals to see how much the voltage is dropping on the bass hits?

i have the power for the head unit and the small nippon amp coming from the primary battery so i can use the system without the boot install switched on, (like when the mother in law is in the car)
all power leads are 4sq,mm and the remote is just standard stuff from the back of the head unit
i have the secondayr battery connected to the chassis and to the primary corectly with 10sq/mm industrial cable. and the main live feed from the secondary battery goes into a 1 to 4 distribution block via the positive terminal on the cap. the negative comes from the negative terminal on the secondary batt to a 1to4 distribution block via the negative on the cap. these cables are all 10 sq/mm too. and all distribution blocks are gold plated. then each amp is supplied by 8 sq/mm cable from the distribution blocks.
the front chanels of the second set of pre amp out go to the small 180w amp and the rear channel is split again between both 500w splx amps.
both 500w amps are bridged and the dvc's are wired in parallell
is there a limit or any preferences to how many amps you can have on a pre amp out channel.
hope this helps
