I'm having a problem driving at night because my cluster has no light. I checked the fuses and they are all ok even replaced them with brand new ones but did nothing. I have a 93 cavalier automatic,2.2L(4 cyl). list below are what were happening for about a month before the cluster light died:
1) Cluster lights are Ok but the lights on the shifter(gear indicator) are not working when car was started. But will light up when i tapped the shifter of anywhere close to gear indicator.
then after about 2 weeks of doing that:
2) Cluster light, A/C / heater panel light(or whatever you call it), gear indicator light all died at the same time. So I checked the fuse box and the inst. fuse(5A) was blown, then I put a new one and all lights worked
but next day:
3) All the lights died again, so I check the fuse again and it was burnt again. Replaced with new one and it worked. But after lessthan a minute the fuse blew up again and it did the same thing after changing the same fuse 10 times. So decided to put 7.5 amps(thought It will help).
But after putting that 7.5A fuse:
4) Lights never came on even putting back 5A fuse on it. I checked all other fuses but they are OK.
So please help me because I'm having a hard time driving at night. Thanks in Advance!

the only thing i can think of is to find the wires for all the lights and chk them for a short so to say sometnig might be grounding them causing the fuses to blow. i had the same problem w/my brake lights

Replace the Fuse with a 20Amp one. Thats what it should be and it won't blow.
