Its pretty obvious it doenst take a rocket scientist to pull 280-320whp out of a 5.0 (which is awesome) but how much can the stock T-5, driveshaft, rear end and axles hold? at what hp is it a must to change them and how much can they take RELIABLY

86-89 factory T-5 rated at 265 ft-lb. of torque. 90-93 factory T-5 rated at 300 ft-lb. Torque. A 5.0 has about 300 ft-lb. of Torque, stock. That makes me wonder about the Torque rating of the 86-89 T-5... Obviously theres more to it then meets the eye. The better your car hooks up, the worse it is for your drivetrain, it would seem to me. Torque is multiplied by both the transmission (except in 5th gear) and the ring/pinion gears, so the axles can withstand a lot of torque. I think the Moser website has some info regarding how much torque the axles can handle. Here is where I got the T-5 info:

Here's the link to Moser Engineering's axle calculator:

Of course, this tells you nothing about the stock Mustang axles. But they must surely be good for 500 ft-lbs with a 3.35 first gear, 3.55 rear end. Maybe a lot more.

in someones honest opinion, do they think the stock axles of a 90 or 91 are strong enough to withstandsay 300whp(thats what about 350 ft lbs of torque?) my main goal is to break 12's on my daily driven 5.0 even if its 12.8's or 12.9's

Well it would be wise and make for added saftey insurance that you get aftermarket axles when reaching times such as those. The big concern will be how hard you lauch your car? With slicks then I can see stock axles breaking, on street tires I don't see it as big of a problem.

Would a limited slip differential help in distributing the torque load? Or is an LSD more of a street component?

Limited Slip is standard on all 86+ 8.8" axles. Though, a good aftermarket diff or spool wouldn't be a bad idea on a high HP car.
