I need input...

I have narrowed my car search down to these finalists. I need your opinions.

1. MKIV Supra Twin Turbo
2. Z32 300ZX Twin turbo
3. 3000GT Twin Turbo

What do you all think would be the best! Keep in mind that I am going to perform some worthwhile modifications.

My other option is to bite the bullet financially and cruise around in a stock Lancer EVO. If I spend that kind of dough modifications would be few and far between I'm sure.

Give it to me straight. Maybe something I haven't thought of would be better?

Thanks

Just a personal preference, those are all great choices but I'd go for the 300zx just for a "all around" great car. But whichever you chose of them just make sure your completely happy with it, whenever I'm on a car search I look at the interior, exterior, performance as a whole if the car doesn't have it all I won't get it.

i myself own a vr4, but i would suggest the supra. don't get me wrong the vr4 is a very nice and underrated fast car, but if your thinkin of all out power and mods, then the supra would be the best bet i think

and between the 300zx and the vr4, i'd say 300zx is more fun cause you can do burnouts and stuff, but if you want to have the advantage over everyone in the jump, the vr4's launch is out of this world.

My first choice would be the Fairlady 300ZX, then the MKIV Supra TT, then the 3000GT VR4.

Supra. As much as I love Nissans, being that I own one, To put out similar horsepower on the 300Z, you'll have to pay more for mods, even though the starting price is lesser than the Supras.

Also, the location of the turbo...ugh. Just to get to them, you'll HAVE to drop the whole motor.

fairlady...like in kill bill...::drools::

my choice would be...well any of them.

they're all great cars, but i'd say the supra does have an edge on the other cars.

Definatly go with the MKIV Supra Twin Turbo.
You can get over 800whp from that engine if you mod it correctly.

supra.

more rare than either of those others so you'll stand out. i know whenever i see a supra im like  and watch it as it drives by. theres hella 300zxs and 3000gts around here... ive seen probably 4 supras every in this area. and i probably see 3 300zxs every day or 2

VR4 3000GT's are much much rarer in my area then TT Supras and TT 300zx's... I'd still go with the Supra though.... but VR4 is my second choice.. then its the Nissan..

300ZX for sure. (biased opinion though :) )

The Supras are becoming too comon here in Aus, the 3000GT isn't too bad but rear wheel drive is more fun :p

I love Nissan too, but between a ZX and a Supra, you'd probably have better luck tuning the Supra from what i hear.

even though i love the nissan 300ZX twin turbos. i would have to pick the supra TT. the nissan is a freaking pain in the ass to work on. there is literally no room to work. its almost impossible to mod the car yourself in the garage. and they will charge you an arm and a leg for the labor. the supra puts down almost as much power at the wheels as a Z does at the crank. so there.

That was a lot af great info! You guys are awesome. The Supra seems to be the popular choice. Now I just have to find one! Wish me luck_

I wouldn't pick my car based on the opinions of a bunch of people on an internet forum who don't have much experience with the cars in question, just as I wouldn't go into the 300ZX and Supra forums and ask the same questions.

Compare prices, test drive them, and decide what you want to do with the car. The Supra and 300ZX are big GTs, powerful, heavy, and decent handling. If you want an all out sports car and 12 second 1/4 miles, you'd be better off to go with an MR2 GTS or a 240SX with a SR20DET or RB25DET swap.

If you want a comfy cruiser that can haul ass in a straight line, and still be fun in the corners, the Supra and 300ZX are good choices.

For a modified street car, I would go with the 300ZX over the Supra. It's biggest advantages are cost, and the basic configuration of the engine. The Supra has an inline 6 cylinder engine, with it's twin turbo setup being two turbos run in series, in other words, one turbo feeds into the other, and they're both run off the same exhaust manifold. Most Supras with 400hp+ have a single turbo conversion, and a large single turbo means lag, and plenty of it.

The 300ZX has a V6, with two banks of cylinders, and a manifold coming off of each bank. This makes for a true twin turbo setup, with twin everything, from twin downpipes and exhaust, to twin throttle bodies and a split intake manifold. This means you can run two smaller turbos, which spool up much faster, and make for a more streetable car, without that vicious kick in the pants turbo lag that makes driving in the city a pain in the ass.

The 300ZX internals are good for around 700hp stock, and all the upgrades to make that kind of power are available online.

My friend has a '90 300ZX TT, which I'm helping him upgrade at the moment. It's not finished, but so far, he has a pair of T28 trim Garrett GT25 ball bearing turbos, good for around 295hp each at 16psi, a custom 4 inlet intercooler, an RPS max street clutch being shipped good for 540lbft of torque and a couple of mufflers. Still need to get the fuel injectors and have his ECU remapped by the good people at JWT. Since his is a '90, it has a different plenum than the later Zs, and requires machining of the lower plenum to fit the new injectors. I'm fabbing up his dual 3" exhaust and downpipes. When this car is done, it will make an honest 580hp on pump gas, with a grand total of $5000 CDN into the engine, or around $3700 USD. That's a bit less than it would cost to make the same power with a Supra, which would require a large single turbo, which would cost MORE than the two smaller Garrett ball bearing units he bought, and it won't have that horrible turbo lag that single turbo Supras and RX7s are notorious for.

Of course, the Supra was the car in the fast and the furious.

While a Supra still sems easier to mod, looking around at prices has shown that you can get a ZX TT for alot less than a Supra TT, which of course leads to having more money for the mods

Thankx-

That's the input I'm talkin about. Just so yu know, I'm not just some kid messin around on the internet.(not that there is anything wrong with that)
I am out of college have a good job and...whatever. What I'm tryin' to say is that I am serious about a performance car.
I hate nothing more than a fast and furious lookin ride with no money into any worthwhile mods.

Don't get me wrong some of those cars look cool, and some don't, but I would much rather spend my money on being fast than looking fast.

Having said that I appreciate what you said. Any future input is more than welcome.
Later...
