KA24DE block iron or not???

I was wondering if the KA24DE block is Iron or not. I am planning on putting a turbo on it and putting forged pistons and rods in it and I don't know if I need to sleeve it or not. I am going for 400rwhp. I am thinkig of going with 8.5-1cr pistons. So I am also trying to find out how much boost I will need. Also I know the lower compression pistons will change the amount of air that the engine needs so the research I have done for the stock engine is kind of worthless on which turbo I should go with. Sorry for so many Q's.

amount of boost depends on efficiency of the engine.
Also I know the lower compression pistons will change the amount of air that the engine needs so the research I have done for the stock engine is kind of worthless on which turbo I should go with. .

In one of the Magazines I got (can't remember which one) it had formulas to figure out where you would need to plot points on a compressor map for a specific engine at a certain RPM. That is so I could pick the best Turbo for my needs. Now common sense would tell me that a lower compression piston would need more boost (air) to make the same amount of HP as higher compression. I could be wrong but that's what I am here for.

Your Correct. You Would Need To Force Feed A Compensation Amount To Make The Same Amount Of Power As The High C/r Na Engine.

welp if you can tune REAL good and have the parts for it, higher compression pistons(stock) would be best. This will give you more HP per PSI as long as you are able to tune it. If you just want to throw on some bigger injectors and run like 20+psi on a S-AFC or such, then lower compression pistons are defintely the way to go. I heard the KA24de crankshaft is forged too.
www.ka24de.com sells some pistons in the CR you are looking for, they also sell some cool valvetrain parts and a couple brands of rods. Personally if your going to get aftermarket pistons, I would also get some strongER rods. Have your crankshaft balanced by a reputable engine shop. New Valvetrain springs and retainers would also be badass on a KA with a set of aftermarket cams.
I think its great more people are liking the KA24de instead of just planning on junking it. This brings about more people who want to buy some more radical aftermarket parts then just pistons and rods lol. Im dieing to see a highly internally modded KA and how much ass it can whip. Bring on the valvetrain goodes! The "high revving" days of the great JDM SR are over hehe.
Plus I like how the KA sounds over the SR hehe, most SR's have too much of a groan to em that is their stereotypical sound. I think that is due to the ECU, most SR's with a stand alone sound totally different and don't have that groaning whine to em. Secret Services SR20 sounds badass at idle lol. Almost like an old carb'd straight pipe KZ from the good ole days of crotch rockets. New bikes just don't have the bite in their sound, too refined and whimpy.

yes, if you get lower compression pistons, you will need to run more psi to make the same hp as a higher compression piston. if i were you, i would get OEM CR forged pistons and get a stacker headgasket, that way if you want to change the CR at a later time, it will be easier and cheaper.

yeah I read that awhile ago, I heard of some hardcore KA24E drag guys making over 700hp with their Single Cams....... out fukken standing lol!
on a side note got a Z32 NA auto in at the shop gonna try to take that for a spin, never driven a Z car before, even though its an auto NA, im sure it will be nice lol.

SR20DETpower- I have already checked out www.ka24de.com . They have some really cool stuff but they seem a little pricey. The tuning part is what I am afraid of. I have a good friend that works at a garage and have all the trust in the world for him mechanicaly. But there really isn't anybody around here that I have found that I would trust to tune my beast once I throw a couple grand into it. I was thinking of gettin a wide band O2 sensor kit to make it easier for whomever but I still am unshure. Tis is the first time I have heard of getting the crank balanced. Do I really need to do that for 400whp.

I don't plan on autocrossing it just drag. Thats why I am sticking with the KA. I hope I don't offend anybody, I just think it's a funny saying.
