Engine Knock

I have a 2000 Silverado 1500 with a 4.3l v6 standard transmission, 74000 miles. I'm trying to solve an engine knock. It seems to come and go as the outside temperature fluctuates. It's been in the 40s and the knock seems to be gone. We had one day that went up to 70 and the knock came back. The temp guage reads a steady 197/198 degrees. When I accelerate and hit between 2300 and 3000 rpm I hear a sound under the dash that sounds like gurgling water. The knock sensor was replaced.

Hayesbcajh,

I've had the same problem with my 2000 Silverado 1500 (4.8L V8, 46k miles). The engine knocks and "gurgles", especially when mildly accelerating over 25 mph. When I release the throttle and re-apply, the knocks are much louder for an instant. I don't notice any difference relating to the outside temperature. I first noticed the sounds at around 10,000 miles.

There are many posts on this topic. Search for "knock". If anyone hears of any plans that GM has to remedy the problems, please post.

I have driven GM cars my entire life, but I will for the first time consider the move to a foreign car, especially if GM continues to deny the problem exists.
