whinning noise

I have a 99 silverado and it makes a bad whinning sound. You can hear it inside the truck and it gets worse as you press the gas. I can turn off the power to my cd player and it will be quieter inside but outside its still loud. It is really loud outside where the cab meets the bed. Does anyone know what might be the problem

out of curiosity what kind of tires do you have?

it is your fuel pump its just how gms are my old 2000 s 10 was really loud too my 2000 silverado is loud but not that bad

actually if it gets louder when you press on the gas then it is an alternator whine
these two whines are totally different
do you have amps in your car connected to speakers if so it is because your rcas/speaker wires are too close to your power wires
but if you dont have any of that then it is just a noisey alternator my silverado does it too and the other one thats where the bed and cab meet is your fuel pump
just ignore the fuel pump both my trucks do it and also all of my friends cars do its just something from gm
for the alternator you can get a filter
crutchfield.com has one that attaches to the alternator that would be your best bet
