Battery change-out

I put a new battery in and when I tried to connect the Positive cable...sparks, horn honks, wipers run, and burned out the fusible link.

Where did I screw up and how can I fix it, OR is it a tow to the dealership?

Thanks,

Man it almost sounds like you put the positive side on without first attaching the ground wire. Also sounds like a major surge, was your ignition on? I know that if you put the poles on incorrectly that it can do that too hope thats not the case -- It screws up the computer somehow, dont know exactly.

Ok, I admit it. Between rain showers, trying to beat the next shower; I ran out of the garage, battery in hand and slapped it in BACKWARDS! Now, I just hope I can find a fusible link to replace the burned out one and that I didn't screw something else up.

Unfortunatly you may have just instantly fried the SBEC, TCM, alternator diodes, radio, and god knows what else in the car by doing that one simple mistake
