Throttle Body spacers?

Hello!
I'm new to these forums, and I would like to pose a question:
I'm looking for better gas mileage and HP for my 1991 V6 4.3L TBI engine, and have heard some things about throttle body spacers.
The AirAid (Sku 200-581) throttle body spacer promises to increase both horsepower and gas mileage for about $75.
Has anyone used a TBS, and are they as effective as they claim? Are they worth the $75 for thier benefits? Or is it just a gimick?
I was also considering a K&N factory filter replacement (just a direct replacement, not and intake) are these worth anything? Are they effective?
Thanks for any advice you can provide,

I would say go with the K&N filter. They have been proven time and time again to be the best filter going. There are a couple other companys now who make a similiar filter. Accel and Holley. You have to maintain them though. As far as the TB spacers I am going to get one for my 1992 4.3 but just havent got around to it. I would say they are well worth it. Make sure you get one with everything you need. I have done a little reading on them and they make a lot of sense.

If you want to add a little more HP Edelbrock claims thier headers specificaly made for your application will increase quarter mile times by up to a full second. I installed a set with a high flow cat and a flowmaster muffler. I love it. I also added a high voltage coil with Jacobs cap and rotor and Jacobs 8.5mm plug wires. Next I am installing an electric fan to free up the extra work my engine uses on the stock belt driven fan.

Thanks TD... I too was considering an electric fan..if I can find a decent one for cheap. That also becomes my problem with getting headers and exhaust; I'm not looking to drop thousands of dollars on this.
I'll be getting the spaser and air filter tho, hopefully soon

I have the K&N FIPK 2 and a TBS on my 99 s-10 i put them in at the same time and i could and still can tell a difference in throttle response and acceleration.
