Blower problem

Allright... it's getting cold mighty fast up here and I have no blower motor. I just brought my 1982 olds delta to the junkyard (still running with 345,000+ on the odometer) and bought a totalled 95 escort. The damage is purely aesthetic so it's like I just bought a new car. Anyways... I was driving it home at 3am and had the blower going, keeping me nice and warm (delta didn't have heat anymore, alternator couldn't support the electrical load) However, today on 80/94 on the way to Gary IN, I tried to turn it on, nothing... Then again after I went out to my car, nothing. The drive home, nothing. If the blower motor's out, it wouldn't have been going would it have? I checked the fuses, all good. I am not very good with these newer cars, especially in the electrical system, but being that I'm a full time student and I only make about 40 bucks a week, I can't see a dealer with this car. Is there a haynes manual out yet for a 95 scort? Or is there a simple fix and this is a common problem? BTW... do these cars still have the habit of losing camber control on the rear axle or is that now in the past? And, has anyone experimented with taking a junkyard standard seatbelt, mounting the loop on the B pillar, throwing out the automatic strangling device and using a standard belt?

yeah really easy. I had this problem. me and my girl were getting a little.....active in the car. and she must have kicked the blower motor, right underneath the glove box. so after a while it not work every now and then, then more, and more. until it didnt work. check the ground wire on the blower motor. its real easy to find. that might be loose, or rusted. but thats a good thing to check.

"active" in an Escort?!?!?! I'm going to venture a guess that you're not of the same stature as I. I laughed hard when I read that there cause I don't even have room enough to move in that car, let alone with two in the car. I'm about 6'6" 200lbs, the old delta I could get "active" in.. but not an escort. Although, I do have to say it's better than my 1989 Subaru Justy (I miss that car) http://www.geocities.com/danmdevries/danny.html

well, yeah. it would be a little difficult if I was that big. it is a little car. but I hope that solves your problem, its not too hard to find, someone your height should still be able to get under the glove box. I hope that fixes it. and very good choice selecting the Haynes manual. its a great tool.

I always had air blowing in, A/C, heater, or vent normally and then one day I go to turn it on and nothing. A couple days later, forgetting, I turned it on and it worked. By the next week it had stopped, worked again for a week and the that was all she wrote. As long as I'm driving a a med. to higher speed air escapes through the vents barely, and it is hot or cool or whatever you want, just no type of forceable air to keep me warm while I deliver pizzas. The pizzas are my only hope. The wire thing was a helpful tip and will be checked, but how do I know which wire to look at, and how can I tell if its the blower moter or not. This car has been through hell and keeps me working for now, so alots wrong with it, but for now I FREEZING! Can I get any prices on new/used ones. That would be very helpful while price hunting on tips! Thanx

I recently had a similar problem on my 1997 Escort and it ended up being a bad resistor on the fan motor.Very inexpensive to replace.

I had the same problem. As above. the clip on the bottom terminal was loose. I squeezed it with a pair of pliers. Nothing more, nothing less.

Davescort97,
Was your blower motor functioning but no air out of vents? The resister fixed it to where your air blew correctly?
