I have a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee, It started to kind of spit and sputter
Like air in a water hose when you first turn on the water when I drove it. It seemed as if it was not getting gas. It did it after it was driven about 15-20 miles. It is in the 80's here not cold mornings etc. It does it at all conditions. The check engine light came on I took it to the Chrysler Dealership they hooked it up to their computer and it showed a bad CO2 Sensor. We replaced the CO2 sensor and the light went off. Seem to have no problems after that. Next few time driven I would try to pass another car and it would spit and sputter and later die. I would start it and it would run will rough a few minutes, I could go a little father then it would die again. It would do this over and over a few miles then start and run fine. The check engine light never came back on. I took it back to the dealership, they stated the fuel pump was bad. We replaced the fuel pump, they drove it a few miles it died and will not start again. They said it was a bad pump, I dont agree. They say it is getting fire and it just wont start. I feel that I am getting screwed. Please help!!!!!

Same thing has happened to me...with my 94 GC. I replaced the Fuel Pump, Filters, O2 Sensors, battery cables, battery, not to mention the number of times I have been towed. It usually happens if I make a 5 mile trip to the Gas Station.. It is the most frustrating experience imaginable.... Still haven't found the solution... I too await an answer.

I agree that sounds like it could be the problem.
