Where is the "Low Coolant" sensor located on a 3.1L (if the engine size matters)? I had to replace the heater core over the weekend, and now that I've filled it back up and it's running good, the "Low Coolant" light still won't go off.

it takes up to 2 weeks for the coolant sensor to reset itself after a coolant refill

Where did you hear that?
What happens is the senor sticks or gets an air pocket..tapping on the coolant jug right at the area of the sensor will fix the problem.

really, I stopped by a garage and asked a mechanic and he said that it takes a few days for the sensor to reset itself

Thanks, a good little tap took care of the problem. I suppose that if you don't take matters into your own hands, maybe it can take up to 2 weeks to hit a good enough bump to have the same effect.

I don't know if this will be of any help but I can suggest one thing. I have a 99 Grand Am and last week my low coolant light came on too, I took to my mechanic and $54 and one day later he said that I had a cracked radiator cap on the coolant resevoir. Try getting a new cap and see if that works.

Its located inside the add coolant tank. you can remove the tank with just one screw, clean it out and the send should work again.

This saved me hundreds. Thanks for posting!!! the tap the radiator tank idea was genius. It just shows usually the simplest ideas work the best. I hit it with a screwdriver several times, and the light never came back on. It was going to cost me $70 for a new tank and sensor + the labor was going to be about $250.
Thank you!!!
