HI guys,
I have a maxima 2000 gle ,bought it 4 weeks ago from a small local dealer ,went on a 3200 miles road trip (no problems whatsoever) 2 days later service engine soon light came out around 60200 mileage, car drives normal ,no change yet ,i am still driving the car a week later ,but i am wondering whats the best to do ,according to the owners manual i already checked the gas filler cap ,i guess its tight like a condom ,i was thinking of the following :
a)taking it to the nissan dealer for the 60 k maintenance (any idea about the cost ?) .
b)take it to autozone for a free computer check up and then go from there .
c)disconnect the battery for few minutes to try to reset the light and ignore the problem .
d)wait for few weeks to see if it will go by itself
please advise me the best or your experiances in this matter
your feedbacks ,advices and inputs are appreciated .

I too had the same problem with my used 2000 GLE. I turned out to be an Oxygen Sensor.. covered under my warranty. I would get it looked at.

Sounds to me like the Wiring Harness is burned out but if I were you I'd take it to AutoZone and have them diagnose it. It is a FREE service and they will be able to tell you what code or codes they have found and probably what they are too.
If they tell you a certain code then take it to Nissan and have them check it out. Nissan will yank on the wiring very hard and if the yanking produces the kind of code(s) that I'm thinking then you will have to replace the Harness which runs more than $1500 for the parts not to mention the labor.
It could well be O2 Sensors in your Banks 1 or Bank 2 at any rate you should get it diagnosed or check your MAF and O2 Sensors.
Good luck
