Common Engine/Tranny probs

I've heard alot of good about gsx's but I've also heard alot bad. I recently test drove a GS and it was slow as hell. The seller took of the GS sticker and was trying to sell it as a GSX w/out the turbo, so basically an AWD GS. There were a few rattles around 20-40mph and above 60mph, is this common?? What can be done to make the tranny on the gsx's more stable because I've seen a lot of torn up parts from only slightly modded gsx's. Are the engines reliable when properely taken care of (except for the occasional hard run)?? What can be done to solve these problems and how much would it cost?? What kind of mileage can be expected from the turbo engine? The gsx is perfect for me because it's already turboed, AWD, looks good, and parts aren't hard to find. I hope engine/tranny problems don't discourage me from buying one. I'd take a GSX over a 240sx or a 300ZX na anyday. I really need some advice especially from Eclipse/Talon owners

I've never heard anything about a NT GSX. This guy is either pulling your chain, or he's done something retarded to the car. I wouldn't touch it.

As far as tranny problems out of the AWDs, it can be a pain, but there is a recall for some of the problems and the rest just come with age (as it would for any vehicle).

As far as reliable: I just took my '94 GST on a 3000 round trip from New England to AR and back. Not a single problem out of the car and it has almost 100,000 miles on it :D

Yeah, the guy selling the car was trying to rip me off and I told him that I knew what he was trying to do and that nobody would fall for it, especially since it says GS in the owners manual.
