I do not remember what pins I need to jumper to get a code from the computer, any help ?
Also I need to replace my power steering pump and resevoir, the thing it throwing fluid as fast as I put it in. How hard it it to replace, any tips ?
Also the SES light comes on just as the car is warming up, and then the idle slows to around 500-600 and sometimes stalls. I failed a receint emissions test here in Maryland and I feel this my be the culprit.
92 3.1 SE with 167,000 miles.
Thanks,
Bill

I'm not sure about getting the code out. If it failed the emissions test, then it is most likely a problem with your EGR valve or catalytic converter...both are expensive items. There is an easy way to eliminate the cat. Replace it with a straight "test" pipe and see if the SES light goes away.
As far as the PS issue, it is MOST likely the pump seal. I've replaced that in EVERY W-body car I've owned so far. The seal is cheap...$10 from Napa, but the puller to remove the pulley is $50.

Thanks for the reply, I just went ahead and bought me one of those book for DIY'ers :)
and the code was easy to get, just jumper the A and B pins with a paper clip (WITH THE KEY ON AND ENGINE NOT RUNNING). and the SES light will blink out the stored codes.
And in my case it was the AIT sensor, and lucky me all that was wrong was the darn thing was not hooked up !!, man I was pissed my son traded me this car for a saturn I had (with less miles). And his G/f's father worked on it all the time and I guess he left this unhooked for some reason. So I will have it re-tested to see if that fixed it.
Runing great now :) and I found a P/S pump at a local auto yard for $35.00 so all is good .

for those following this thread,
After simply hooking up that AIT sensor, I had the car rechecked Saturday. AND it passed :)
And on Saturday I replace the power steering pump, and filled and bled the lines. But to my dismay, when backing the car down the driveway there was that darn trail of steering fluid following the car. Looking under I saw a steady drip of fluid off the crossmember. :banghead:
I guess the leak was in the lines somewhere or down at the steering mechanism. NOT the pump itself.
