hi, i was looking on the internet about mr2s n i came across a page that stated there was a 4th gen 3stge that put out 260 hp

"The 3SGTE comes stock with about 200 HP. There are Japaneese versions with HP increases of 225 (2nd Gen.) plentiful, 241 (3rd. Gen), rare and 260 (4th. Gen.) good luck finding that one!"

so i made a search on google and found one site other than the other talking about it http://www.ridejudge.com/ridedetails.asp?RideID=454 but that could also be a typo (look bottom right of link page)

i was wondering if there was an actual 4th gen or if that was a myth

if the engine does exist i guess the only way to check it is the 99 mr2 turbo. the 99's sold only about 500 in the world, so i guess you could say that IF the engine actually did exist not too many people would even know about it.

now supposively there will be one (3SGTE) in the 2005 Celica that will be 300bhp (AWD turbo)

the 4th generation 3sgte came in the newer model Caldina's. i think the Caldina is 4wd also.

i think i remember a discussion about this on the mr2 board. no offense, but it has a lot more info than this forum.

Yeah i would like to see some pictures of it
I tried to search for it on a couple Jap sites but it was like searching blind can't read their script.
I want to see the individual ignition coils on top the the spark plugs.
I wonder if they designed the head different from the GenIII head?

There's still debate as to weather it could be considered the 4th Gen 3sgte but it underwent changes just like from Type II-III so I guess it's about time everyone called it that :) It came out in the Caldina in 1997 though:

So the fact the MR2 Type III 3sgte (Till 99) continued along side the GT-T 3sgte is a funny thing, I guess following after the ST205 GT-4.
