what to buy? monroe, tokico or KYB

Hello guys,

I new to this but I want you to know I need to upgrade my suspension. My car has over 300k miles. I took it to a performance shop and the guy told me not spend money on coil over or adjust shocks. He said that I would never going to adjust my suspension for everyday driving. He suggest that I should buy a set of Monroe for $340 and tenzo for $150.

But as I look at this forum, I hear nothing of Monroe or tenzo. Is he trying to ripe me off since I'm a woman?

Only 300K miles? I say get adjustable shocks or adjustables coilovers even for street use only. Most likely you won't use them for what they were designed for but once you've upgraded non-adjustable parts, your stuck with that ride. At least with adjustable shocks you can tune your ride or tune all types of stuff with fully adjustable coilovers(bump/rebound, ride height, spring rates) to your needs. If you have the extra money to spend, go for it - make sure its quality.

How much do you plan on lowering?
Do you need ride height adjustments?
Don't buy "coilovers" unless its a kit (springs/shocks)

H&R / Koni / tein - coilovers
H&R / Eibach / Neuspeed - springs
Koni / KYB / Bilstein / Tokico - shocks
H&R Cup Kit - matched springs / shocks

For example, Eibach's Pro Kit was not designed to work with KYB AGX's, and the other way around. Having the adjustments on the shocks makes better use of these parts.

First off I'd say it all depends on how low you want it to be?

In all honesty, I'd say go with some Neuspeed Sport, or Eibach Pro-Kit springs, and then some Tokico "blues" performance shocks. They will be enough for those springs. You may not need adjustable coilover sleeves like mentioned, but then again you aren't stuck with the same right height with them either like you would be with normal lowering springs.

So how low are you looking to lower the ride height by?

Thanks for the input. I learning as I go through this forum. I do not want to go no lowering than 1" drop. From your input, I guess not to go with monroe and tenzo. I have a budget of $600 and I want the best quality parts I can buy. How about a kyb adjust with HR spring?

KYB AGX & H&R would be a great choice
