yj radio problem

Hello,

My jeeps radio has been loosing it's presets every once in a while if I leave it sit for more than about a day. I never have any trouble starting or anything else though, so it's not a short draining the battery. Also, I tried installing a radio a friend gave me and a radio I took out of my old car and neither works (they still work in other cars though). I checked for power in the wireing harness where it plugs into the radio with the car turned off and there is no power in any or the connections. The center (yellow) wire on most wiring harnesses is marked (12v memory) so I would expect it to have power when the car is turned off. Is this a correct assumption? If this is the case, and there is a connection gone bad somewhere, does anyone know if that would prevent newer radios from turning on? I've also checked all the fuses, any idea where to start looking if the 12v memory wire isn't getting the power it's supposed to? (the wiring diagrams I have don't help much)

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Chris

what year YJ ?
According to my wiring diagram for a 1995 fuse #10 which is 5 amps is hot at all times and the wire color is pink this should keep your radios memory as for the other radios use a circuit tester and the ignition switch to find the switched 12v hot for the original radio Ive had the same problems before hope this helps

It's a 95.

I got it though. It was the memory fuse labeled IOD. Don't know how I missed it before but now the newer radios work as well and my dome light in the hard top is back on. So I'm happy.
