Now im just posting this because I was in peoria the other day with the GN and a 6 year old with a 1999 3.8L camaro was making fun of my car because it was a buick and only old people drive buicks. and he was being serouis. He also said that he visits this board every once in a while. So here is some info on his 3.8 L camaro. That 3.8 (231CID) is a BUICK ENGINE. I says buick right on the block. I verified this by asking the GM ASEP teachers and techs. at the school I go to and they said all GM products with a 3.8 are buick 3.8L's. I'm not trying to start shit or anything at all just wanted to make this kid realize what he was making fun of

Buick is GM

The 3.8L is GM.

The block is GM.

It's comparing oranges to oranges. I'd drive a twin turbo grand national over my turd camaro any day of the week.

The 3.8 in my car being the same block as the 3.8 in the GN is good news to me. I'm working to install a turbo kit in my car (against express C.A.R.B. prohibitions HAHAHAHA! F*CK YOU ECONAZIS!) and I know you can get the power out of the GN 3.8L...so I can get the power out of MY 3.8 :)

Anyone who thinks that buicks are just for old people have never seen an old Skylark. I'd do that car.

yes they are GM but certian GM name plates have there certian motors, Chevy had the 454, pontiac had the 455, buick had the 401 nailhead, Also the buick 3.8 block is diffrent than other 3.8 blocks...they are the same bore, stoke, etc but the block is casted with more nickel than a N/A 3.8 pistons where a little diffrent and it was 8.0 to 1 compression. Also the GN's where all single turbo , the only the twin turbo GN's are custom setups or big stage I or stage II race motors

Well, either way. Also, the period is your friend.

The 3.8 in the GN and the 3.8 in his 95 or newer F-body share nothing other than the same designation...

You're talking about Series I vs. Series II motors...

But they are still buick motors.

That may be, but it was stated that they were the same, and I was clearing up the fact that they're not... :sunglasse

hey I got an 88 olds with a 3.8L engine(VIN C). I assume it is the same engine as the one in the buick and the camaro(correst me if I'm wrong) and I am planning on turbocharging it. Anybody got any suggestions. I was gonna get some exhaust manifold from a junkyard and fabricate them to fit into two turbos(Twins). I was wondering if anybody else had do it or knew if there was a kit or had any suggestions or advice.
