I have the same issue on a 1998 Blaser except mine does it randomly...especially over bumps and it is getting worse. It appears I need to remove the steering wheel to get at the turn signal switch assembly ($200 at Bumper to Bumper...GAWD). So my question is...how do I get the steering wheel off?
I removed the two screws from the shroud on the back of the steering wheel and Chilton says to use a pry bar to remove two clips...I don't see any clips. Any ideas what I'm suppose to see or look for?
Thanks for any help,
TomBo

I have a very similar problem on my '98 Blazer. When the temperature drops below 50F or so, the turn signal flasher ticks like the turn signal is still on even though the switch is in the off position. The ticking sound stops when I apply the brake, then starts again when I release the brakes. Any ideas???

Mine was chattering all the time and when I wiggled the turn signal arm...I could get it to stop and/or chatter more. Very irritating. It started out doing it occasionally and continued to get worse over a 4 week period.
Off the top of my head I'm wondering if you have a frayed wire touching something and when you apply the brake it moves it. I'm usually totally wrong about this stuff so I'm most likely wrong. I ended up having to replace my turn signal switch assembly. Got it online from GMPartsDirect. They needed my VIN to be sure I got the right part. Took me 2.5 hours to replace it last Saturday morning. There are two (two wires each) connectors that attach to the steering cloumn in two different places. One is near or part of the stop light switch assembly...at least I think that is what it is. So your trouble could be tied into that area. I suspect that two wire connector has something to do with cruise control since when you apply your brakes it disengages the cruise control. The other two wire connector is further up the steering column closer to the ignition switch area. I could not get that connector off so I cut the wires and spliced (soldered) the new wires to it. There are two additional (large) connectors that go to a larger connector closer to the firewall. Took me about 30 minutes to see that connector has a screw in the middle of it holding it all together. GM is great for not making things very easy. I thought for sure I would have to take the steering wheel off but with help from others here I learned you can replace the turn sig sw assembly with out removing the steering wheel. One tip...to get the top plastic shroud off the steering column...there is a small screw to the upper left (as your looking at the ignition key switch straight on as you would insert the key into the ignition switch). One fella here advised to grap it with a needle nose pliers to remove it then file a slot into it so you can use a standard screw driver to put it back...I found a 4mm socket worked on removing it with no effort at all...I think it was 4mm...try some small metric sockets and you'll figure it out. The local dealer wanted over $400 to replace it...I did it for under $125. No more chatter from that dang relay behind the glove box. Now I'm waiting for the next thing to fail. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't happen very soon. Hope this helps, good luck. TB
