sub problems

i put a 450 watt amp and 2 10" subs in my car about a month ago and recently i have been having problems. the amp just started turning off and going on protect mode but it only happeans on some song, i ask someone at best buy what the problem wasand he said i shouldm replace the 12 gauge wire i used with a 8 gauge wire. I was wonder if anyone had any other ideas thanx

12 ga wire....please tell me that's not the size of the power wire
If so replace it now, also, make sure the gain isn't turned all the way up and make sure it's well ventillated.

thanx man i turned down the gain and it works like a charm, I have one more question for you i cant find and 8 gauge wire can i use a 6 instead on a 450 watt amp?

you can use any size larger than the recommended, and make sure you use the same size ground wire

yea, you should prolly use at least 6 guage for 450.
You never want any of your signals to be a full power. Signals become distorted when they are peaked out. SO you dont wanna put your gain all the way up or too low because it makes your head unit to put out a higher voltage pre-out.
