First of all...i wanna say goodmorning to everybody..ive got calculus class in 25 minutes...so let me try to write this stuff up...well anyways..im 18 yrs old in college...and ive got the choice of getting my father's 1999 528i SPORT or a 2004 G35 Coupe...well here are my questions...

1) how long do you think the G35 coupe will stay in the market...for example i do not want to buy it...and the car becomes discontinued after a few years...like the Acura 3.2 CL

2) what handles/performs/rides better...the BMW or the G-Coupe

3) are the navigation systems in the coupe touchscreen...or do you have to you use a seperate button to "navigate" the system

4) my friend just got the new TL that originally pushes 270 horses...do you think i could possibly win a race against this vehicle...

5) finally, do you think adding the Viper VX790 alarm to the vehicle would be better...with replacing the factory alarm...the VX790 alarm is the little white remote control...that shows you an image of the vehicle and whats wrong with it...which also speaks to you...when alarming & disalarming the vehicle...sorry for all the questions...hope it doesnt seem as if im a spoiled brat...

...if i choose the coupe...ill prob keep it until the end of Medical School...in other words...2012...just wanna choose wisely...thanks again

1) how long do you think the G35 coupe will stay in the market...for example i do not want to buy it...and the car becomes discontinued after a few years...like the Acura 3.2 CL

The CL was primarily discontinued because it wasn't selling anymore - the G35 twins are selling like hotcakes. No reason to discontinue the two cars that alone comprise about 50% of Infiniti's sales!

2) what handles/performs/rides better...the BMW or the G-Coupe

Both handle very, very well - I have Autocrossed both BMW's and G35's and they have similar tendencies with a few differences. The BMW tends to be a bit more "sticky" but will understeer (yes, understeer) when pushed to the max. The G coupe will be a bit more tail-happy but also will understeer when pushed to the max. Steering feel on both is great. The ride on both are somewhat stiff - they're meant to be sports coupes/sedans after all! But the stiffness is not as much present as in a 350Z or a S2000. I can drive hundreds of miles in my coupe and not be uncomfortable - I doubt if I could say the same in an S2K (which is a great sports car, just not very practical!)

3) are the navigation systems in the coupe touchscreen...or do you have to you use a seperate button to "navigate" the system

The coupe does not have touchscreen for the NAV. It is operated by a joystick. It does have a 'birds-eye' view that the BMW doesn't have though. Overall the NAV could be improved in the coupe but is pretty good nonetheless. Better than Benz, not as good as Lexus.

4) my friend just got the new TL that originally pushes 270 horses...do you think i could possibly win a race against this vehicle...

I'm not a street racer but I would think that the coupe is faster, particularly the manual transmission version. That is about a 5.6-5.8 car 0-60. The figures I have seen for the TL are 6.2.-6.7. Now the 5AT coupe and the TL might be a driver's race but I would still favor the coupe.

I have had zero problems with anyone trying anything with my coupe with just the stock immobilizer/alarm. I am more concerned with people stealing my wheels/tires even though I have two different sets of wheel locks on each tire!

...if i choose the coupe...ill prob keep it until the end of Medical School...in other words...2012...just wanna choose wisely...thanks again

Either car - provided they are not lemons and that is not common with either BMW or Infiniti - is a great choice. I enjoy driving both. Good luck on your choice.

i would say get the g35c.
-its a new car
-the 5series has a new design out already
-more power, enough to satisfy you through 2012 =P i think
-cheaper mod's than the bmw
-not many chances in life to own a coupe, once u get married think minivan or full size sedan... next chance you'll get is when u retire lol.
-semi-rare on the road, TOO many 5's out there
-i have one :smokin:
-beautifulllll exhaust note
-bmw is already 4-5 years old. problems are bound to appear.
etc...

on the other hand...
-its only a 2 dr
-small trunk
-interior inferior to bmw
etc...

Save your money and buy an old rusty junker. The med school credentials should be enough to attract lots of women and you'll be able to automatically filter out the golddiggers by driving the junker. And the woman who would love you even with the junker is the one you want to marry anyway. Finally, you can use the money you saved to buy an airtight pre-nupt agreement when the time comes. I don't really expect you to take my advice but in about 30 years you might wish you had. Or maybe not.
