Actually there is a couple. There's 1 WRX in Victoria thats painted in the well known blue n white theres even a Dodge up in Northern Territory.

The 4wd monaro isn't on sale yet - the cops get their hands on that next year. They do however have a yellow HSV GTO in Melbourne - saw that a couple of weeks ago.

And the main cop cars here are Holden Commodores, and Ford Falcons - not much in the way of Subarus. There are a special of high profile cars used (a Volvo S60, Saab 9-5, a few HSV's, and a few WRX's), but there are only a few of these around and its pretty rare to see them on the road.

I get followed home and shit all the time, they often pull me up. I keep getting followed for no shit 45 mins, going like 20 ks under the limit incase they pull shit out of their arse telling me that i am speeding. Fuckers. need to swear wen it comes to the piggies.

I used to get hassled a lot when I was on P - Plates even though my car was a bog standard Datsun 1600.

I got done for speeding two weeks ago doing 120km/h on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway. :nono: I pulled over as soon as I saw the cop in the bushes point at me (my VP is no match for a VY SS) and waited.

He was an older bloke and I honestly answered I was watching the road and not the speedo (I never really do as I don't think it's safe to look at it all the time). He said that because I pulled over so quick he would knock it back to 109km/h meaning a saving of two demerit points and $75! :iceslolan

It really depends on the cop I reckon, I've known some real assholes (I grew up in Frankston in the nineties) but there are some good ones in there.

Yeah, they are mostly Holdens and Fords. There are also some Toyotas. Me thinks the Scooby Do's and Volvos, etc are used mainly in highway pursuit stuff, but I have seen a Scooby tryin to catch a stolen Porsche thru Melb's CBD. The new 4WD Holden wagons are goin in to the outback mainly. Apparently there are more unmarked cars coming out (Scoobys, Nissans, etc), like they had a couple of years back in the Hyundai Coupes (yes, Hyundais), but there are several unmarked Scoobys (not just WRXs) hunting around Melb.

the reason they use more holdens as police cars is because holden sells them to the government cheaper than everyone else (its all about image here...u see a holden chasing criminals..people think there the best) plus the AU XR8 is speed limited to 180km/h and the BA XR8 is speed limited to 260km/h compared to the SS which isnt at all

Are you sure the people that you were talking to weren't from New Zealand???? Because in the late '90's the Police bought a fleet the last run of the Second Generation Legacy- thier AWD capabiliyies would make them a hit in the South Island.

But yeah- for whatever reason the NZ Police haven't bought Falcons since the AU Series I, they are mainly VX Holden Executives and S's as well as VY Executives in our modern force- as well as Vectra GL's. I've seen undercover Camry's, Vectra's and Diamante's.


Also there are a few Maxima's and Primera's on the force :)

They did have the Legacys down south, but they put crap tyres them which negated the AWD advantage.

Also, the Police dont buy their cars, they're all leased.

Yeah, obviously police lease cars, at quite a hefty discount of course........I still think using Commodores is a senseless waste of fuel- my idea would to be to have Vectras/Mondeos in the Urban areas (Maybe even Astras or Focus') and Commodores on the highways, though with the recent Vectras move upmarket and the fact the cops don't seem to want to lease Fords anymore (So no Mondeo) kind of makes the idea unrealistic.

I've seen a few Vectras around the place- there is a carpark with plenty of 'em in Auckland Central police station- I was a Pakuranga (East Auckland) Plaza when two marked Vectras pulled up and in Wellington I saw an unmarked one (just outside Modelcrafts and hobbies in High St)

the cops in my country drive brand new Nissan pathfinders, BMW 5 series, Mercedes E classes, Chevrolet luminas, Landcruisers, range rovers and cherokee's. Waste of money if you ask me.

Do they do a lot of Highway work? BMWs are popular with highways unit often, though thats the first time Ive heard of an M class cop car.

All the cop cars over here in metro Perth are now basic 6cyl execs or xt's due to a number of police fatalities during high speed chases.
Generally they now let the extreme speeders go and rely on radio and stingers to catch em.
Yet to see a Monaro or WRX police car.

yeah there are wrx's in melb and sydney (though sydney WERE having trouble fitting cops in to them. and i've heard of all sorts of things on the nullabor and the territory... you guys heard that the cops pranged a volvo T5R on anzac parade in canberra and wrote it off? vic police had a yamaha R1 bike too.... stuff trying to lose that thing! and the specs on the holdens and fords changes state to state...

in NSW they have WRX's, VY SS's, BA XR8's, BA XR6 Turbo's, BA Fairmont Ghias....thats right the 5.4 litre V8 fairmonts as undercovers
ive seen a mitsubishi magna station wagon crusing around, they use more XR6 Turbo's here then SS's because there faster and cheaper to run.
