Get more horsepower

I have a '96 Z\28 6 speed (LT1..obviously) Now, I would love to put in LS1 into her. However, my research has shown me..to my dismay, that an LS1 can only be put into '97 and up..Is this true? Also, what can I do to get noticably more power. Budget is about 2 grand...unless it is possible to put an LS1 into it. :sly:

98 and up fit LS1's. If you want one of those desperately, sell your 96, and get a 98-02. I'd do an LT4 conversion to your LT1 if I had that money to spend...

It should give you more power and more torque than an LS1 :naughty:
