ok guys the b20 bottom end w/ a vtec head (in this case a b16) is known as the frankenstine swap, correct me if im wrong. But anwya this is not an extremly common swap but how reliable is this! Is there a huge difference between this and a ls/vtec swap? what kind horsepower number come from this swap? what makes the b20 bottom end a good choice?
let me knwo asap!!!!!!!!!!!

go here for the ls/vtec numbers
http://www.importreview.com/d_1.8.html
go here for crvtec numbers
http://www.importreview.com/d_2.0.html
i don't really know much about the reliability for these motors. i do know that both of these motors are good motors for boosting, except that the b20 has to be resleeved cuz of weak internals. correct me if i'm wrong anyone.

Its reliablity...it seriously all depends on YOu and the set up. The difference is simply by one is a 1.8 and one is a 2.0 so that gives you more torque and horsepower. You'll get about 220hp to the wheels. I guess the reason why I have the b20 block is because of the torque difference. Hope this helped =)

Im lookin to do the same thing and im having a hard time figuring out what is the best head and bottom-end for a car that would be turboed?
what would be the $$$ on a b20 block sleeved and if possible a slight bore? that is even if the b20 is right for me? JDMsweetz!!! If u can expain this to me u seem pretty knowledgeable on this i wouldn't have a problem doing business with u (given the right price)?
so u know this is a group project and im doing this research in prep for a soon to be purchased 90-93 integra LS or 88-92 CRX SI (the CRX if things go my way)

Hey there...if you're planning on going turbo then I would reccomend getting the b20 since youre thinking about resleeving it. As with price quotes, it really depends on what company or who you go through, but I can get you a b20 long block for $750. I can get you a price quote on sleeves, I just have to wait for the guy to call me back. What I do know that I just got a quote for labor on putting sleeves is for $65. So shop around, I dunno how stingy the people are over there on the east coast :). As for VTEC, I reccomend the Si or ITR head rather than the GSR simply because it flows a lot better. As far as turbo-ing? your car, it all really depends on how far you wanna go with spenidng the money and how fast you wanna go. As far as boring, hot tanking and shot peened rods that will all cost $250 and you'll wanna balance the motor so that will be arounf $150. I hope this helps :) Let me know whatcha think :)

i got a b20 in my coupe and i was thinking about puting a vtec head on it but changed my mind and decided to just turbo it. i made my decision after riding in a turboed b20 with 9 lbs of boost on stock internals. the guy said that his car has been running fine for 6 months so fare and he has had no problems.
