Radio hookup

The Subaru manual says the STI is prewired for a radio. Is the more than 'One' radio plug/connector that need connected on the back of the radio (combo unit 6CD radio tape) that needs to hooked up. ( I can only find one) also I can't find the traditional radio male plug. And there is a place where a second multi connector could fit. The radio unit came from a 02 WRX. I don't have speakers yet. Any advice on that front the factorys are ~$165
Thanks

Are you saying you bought a STI and it doesn't come with a radio, so you're putting one in? For some reason, I couldn't quite understand what you were saying...maybe because I just woke up (stupid night classes). If you're going to the trouble, I'd just get aftermarket stuff. I bought my CD player from crutchfield for $139, which if I understand you right, is cheaper than the stock head unit from Subaru. It's not a bad CD player either. If you aren't wanting a huge variety of features, you can get one cheaper. Now the doors speakers, as with the rear deck...I would get aftermarket speakers there too. They give much better sound quality and will let you hear those little things in the music that you never could before. You can usually pick up a pair of 6.5" speakers for around $50-100 depending on where you go. Hope this helps some.

This is just my opinion...but if your driving an STi ,why do you need a radio? Just roll the windows down and listen to the engine and turbo sing. If you get bored with that just clutch and rev , spool 'er up :evillol:. And yet again that is only my :2cents:.

Go to Best Buy and get the appropriate install kit for the STi. If not, go to www.crutchfield.com

You can buy the harness adapters and shit.

I have found that circut city will make baskets for the front speakers for $50 (as apposed to the $40 dollar a piece dealer price) and the plug to go into the factory harnes is about $18. I just used half of the plug to go to the factory harnes and spliced a weatherproof connection (kits are avalible from summet racing or you can steal them from work hint hint) but making connections with standard crimpers will most likely give you problems. The crimpers can go from $30-$100 and the connection kits are about $50 but it's the right way to do it instead of using soldierless connections. This way you can go from the factory harnes (without cutting it) to absolutly any CD player you want
