Noise in Engine

Hi,
I have a 1997 galant 1997, the engine makes a sound like a tapet knok but i don't think so. Does anyone noifthe typeof oil that was used can course that and if so what is the recommended oil for a 4G93 engine.

Blanchard, the brand and viscosity of engine oil will not generally cause engine knock alone. Some possible engine knock sources could be one of the following:
1. pre-ignition/detonation as a result of low octane fuel
2. engine timing - although the timing is controlled by the CPU, if the timing belt has been replaced, it's possible that the CAM or crank shaft might be off one tooth.
3. aftermarket flex-pipe exhaust section
4. piston slap (caused by worn piston rod wrist pin or excessive cylinder wear)
5. worn piston rod bearing
