clunking at high speeds?

so today I was on the highway and I was just messin around and ran it up to about 110 then shifted into 5th and I heard a weird clunking type sound (from the front of the car I believe) never done this before, anyone know what it could be?

From the front of the car... Hmm.... My car did the same thing after having worked on it and mixed up the spark plug wires..... Uhh.... hmm... im not sure what to tell you... Maybe a better description is in order and Some one will be able to help you better....

my car did just come out of the shop, don't know if they messed with the plugs or not, but how'd you know they weren't in the right order?

basically I was going 70 in fifth on the highway and my cousin came up beside me to pass me so I droped into third and flew ahead of him then eased off the gas and went back to fifth and it made a clunking clanking or whatever sound and it sounded like it was from in front of me but I could be wrong, it only happened for like 2 or 3 seconds then I put it in neutral till I slowed to like 90 and put it back in fifth and it was ok after that

Hmmm - Make sure everything is secure on the front of the car. Especially the belly pan / drip pan. If its not secured I could see it flapping around and making quite a racket.

Spark plug order is simple.

Stand on the drivers side of the car and look at the side of the engine. Front of the engine towards the radiator is rotor 1. Top spark plugs are your trailing plugs bottom leading. I always thing "T" for top = trailing.

On your coils you should have a white dot. The white dot indicates rotor #1. The front coils "should" have a T for trailing marked on them if not they are the ones by the battery. Make sure the white dot wire is going to the #1 rotor top plug. The other wire goes to the rear rotor (#2) top plug.

The leading coils are by the brake master cylinder. Same deal white dot front other rear.

My TII used to shake violently whenever I exceeded 140. It turned out to be a the drive shaft. Now its smoooottthhhh.

ok so trying to distinguish where the sound was coming from I ran it up to about 120 today before it started to do it, and I was in 4th gear, then went to fifth, then neutral and it didn't make a difference, then once I got down to like 95 it stopped again... it is more of a rattling than a clanking, but is either under the area of the front seats or under the engine, pretty sure its something on the bottom though


also I have this little rubbery ring hanging down on the underside of the car on the passenger side, just behind where the passenger seat would be... what is it? doesn't look like anything... looks like its just kinda there for no reason, I don't have a clue why but it just hangs off this little bar, shaped like a donut, moves around and everything... was kind of wondering if that could be the noise but I don't think that little rubber thing would make that noise

I'm thinking about just cutting it off... any ideas?

Thats an exhaust hanger. Look above it and you should see where it goes you might need a screwdriver to reattach it. I don't think thats your culprit but who knows. This is what makes our cars so much fun the little gremlins sneaking around.
