I have a 2000 Grand Prix and when I turn on my rear window defogger my radio goes to static. I do not have a visible antenna on my vehical. I have lines/wires in my rear window that are above the rear window defogger, they are at the top of the rear window within 4 inches of the top, is this my antenna? How do I fix this problem?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Since your car doesn't have a visible antenna it uses grid lines in the rear glass. The grids are wired to a module which plugs into your radio. Look at the module behind the pillar trim. Unplug the module looking close at the terminals you might see some melted wires there and that could cause your problem.

I a 2000 GTP with the exact same problem. The grid and the wire from the grid to the module (apperas to be a booster) as well as the ground at the module check good with an ohm meter. Voltage at the module (power to the module) is good. I have tried another module and a different noise cap at the defogger grid, and the problem remains. Seems like that leaves the radio and the cable from the radio to the module. I havent had time yet to dismantle the dash, so that is all I know. I was hoping maybe you had found your problem...??? If not I will post when (and if) I get mine figured out.

Yes it only leaves the coaxil cable and the radio for your source of static.
