I am looking for a gsx but if I can't find one then I want a spyder gst. I have a question for the spyder owners. I have heard that there are leaking problems with the car. Are there really problems with leaking through the roof? Help would be appreciated. Peace.

all convertibles leak after a while... it's just how much you can tolerate it. In my spyder, the most i get is after hard rain, it leaks in the front corner driver corner, dripping a little bit. And it leaks in the back pouch. The back pouch is only because i have to reseal the top of it. The front driver side corner of the top leaks only because my hatch is broken so it doesn't latch down tightly. To get a new latch is 170 bucks, so i like my little dripping a little better. All i can tell you is, you just gotta tolerate it. All convertible leak a little when you wash them, and in hard rain. The eclipse does have a little leak problem, but it's tolerable in my opinion.

Well ure primary spyder owner here. Ive had my car 4 years now and NO THE TOP NEVER LEAKED. Only after you get in your car and drive some drips may come thru the window. But thats nothing. I went from a tan top to black. Your gunna be ok with the leakage thing. But in my opinion try and find a gsx if your totally looking for a track monster. My cars pretty fast. But then again ive spent TOO much money on body kits(2 of em), paint jobs(2 times, black to viper red) to problems to upgrades. Plus the spyder weighs abit more. But id sacrafice some speed for looks. My car is one of the nicest in town. Everyone from grandparents to little kids always saying nice car, what kind of car is that, is it fast as it looks etc. Especially when I go to clubs. I give a rev or 2. And that girl I was trying to talk to in the clubs all the sudden seems intrested. If I do anything now im upgrading the turbo and fuel. But will be buying a 90-94 gsx and taking all mods out and making the spyder stock. All in all if you can AFFORD THE INSURANCE its a done deal

mine is a little leaky too. like zero said, little on the driver side, some in the pouch. but nothing to worry about. also my weather seals are bad, i have no idea about the cost of replacement.

SpyderEclipseGst: how much did the top replacement cost? was it from the dealer?

My top cost $1100 and if you wanna replace your headliner its $1500 give or take a few hundred per who you take it to. And no it wasnt from the dealer. the dealer and my insurance agency refered me to them. The dealer wont replace your top. They refer you to a place and you call and get a price. I went from a tan top to black no extra cost at all. And yes I did get alittle leak here and then. But now my top is vertually sealed. Exept the water that drips from the window seals when turning..

my top on mine leaks a bit too. just up in the corners of the top. latches are loose, don't close tightly. leaks mostly after its been raining for awhile. nothing too serious, just sightly annoying.

Actually, the dealer near me told me they could replace my entire top (actually, they tried to tell me i had to replace it) with a brand new one... but $6000 dollars for a new top is a tad much when at the time, all i needed was a side frame piece. Talk about hussling...

6g sounds about right from the dealer, you know they have $300 toilet seats and $500 brooms...
